There are many new terms and procedures to learn. The Victim Services Unit works to answer questions and to provide you useful and timely information. It is our promise to honor you, treat you with respect and dignity, and to act as your guide while the offender is under the jurisdiction of the Colorado Department of Corrections.

The purpose of the Victim Rights Act (VRA) Compliance Program at the Office for Victims Programs is to ensure that victims of VRA crimes are afforded their rights as enumerated in the VRA, including the right to be heard at specific stages in the criminal justice process and to be informed of and present at critical stages in the criminal justice process. The Crime Victim Services Advisory Board makes biannual funding recommendation for the victim assistance projects throughout Colorado. This money is sub-granted to organizations throughout the State of Colorado to enhance, expand, and develop new programs to serve victims of crime.

Victims may be eligible to receive up to $20,000 for out-of-pocket expenses not covered by insurance or other collateral resources, or up to $1,000 in emergency funds directly related to the crime.
